 1. MYOB Exo upgrades

The MYOB Exo development team is constantly improving the software and adding new features, often at the request of users in the large user base. Sometimes, your clients will request a feature that is available in a later release of MYOB Exo. Clients whose licences with MYOB Exo are current are not charged for the new software, but business partners would charge to perform the upgrade. If the client’s database has been extensively modified with triggers and stored procedures, or links to other applications, the upgrade process may be complex. For standard implementations, upgrading is very quick and easy to do.

2. Where are the programs stored?

The programs are stored on the workstation or on the server. In the case of a DCE installation, each workstation would have the programs installed. When using terminal server, the programs are on the server.

3. Where is the data stored?

The data is stored in the SQL database, which may not be the same machine as the executables.

4. How does the end user make a backup (for offsite storage)?

If Enterprise Manager is installed, this tool can be used to schedule or initiate backups of the SQL data files, or log files, or both. In a commercial environment, where the server is being backed up to media each day, it is still a good idea to schedule a SQL backup to the hard drive.

5. What are Profiles?

Profiles are a group of settings that can be applied to users. For example, if an organisation has sales staff that only require certain functions, a profile for “sales” is created. This profile is then applied to each sales staff member, and saves having to set individual settings per person. There are 3 profiles that can be assigned: Computer profile, Security profile and Menu Profile.

6. What are the System Requirements for MYOB EXO?

See the latest system requirements here > MYOB System-requirements.

7. Can MYOB Exo handle Multi Currency / foreign currency?

MYOB Exo handles foreign currencies and keeps track of unrealised and realised gains and losses. The currencies in use are set up in ExoConfig. The currency default for the creditor or debtor is set on the creditor or debtor master.

8. Can I add extra fields?

As part of our scoping sessions with your business, Horizon works with you and your team to understand your organisation’s processes and procedures. If fields need to be added following implementation, this can be achieved by your own staff or through the assistance of our Support Desk.

9. How do I enter discounts and special pricing

By using various combinations, most pricing models can be catered for.

10. How do I set up remote access?

MYOB Exo performs very well over a Wide Area Network using the Exonet DCE or using Microsoft Terminal Services. We will liaise with your network administrator before implementing our networking solution.

11. How do I do a stocktake?

Our simple and effective stocktake procedure allows you to initiate a stocktake at a date and time, by bin location or product group. Call our support desk (see the Support link at the top right of this page) if you require further assistance or click to see the Maintaining Stock Headstart Manual.

12. Can I import a bank file?

Bank files in the format supplied by all Australian banks can be imported directly into MYOB Exo. This greatly simplifies the Bank Reconciliation process.  Contact our support desk (see the Support link at the top right of this page) if you require further assistance.
